What is the difference between MB and MiB?

MB (megabyte, SI) is 1,000,000 bytes; MiB (mebibyte, IEC) is 1,048,576 bytes. Disk makers and network speeds use SI; operating systems and RAM usually use binary units (often mislabelled as MB).

How do bits relate to bytes?

One byte is 8 bits. Network bandwidth is quoted in bits per second (Mbit/s), so a 100 Mbit/s link moves at most 12.5 MB/s.

What does the transfer time show?

The ideal time to move the given size at the entered bandwidth, ignoring protocol overhead and latency.

How precise is the conversion?

Values are computed with double-precision floats and shown with the chosen number of decimals, which is exact for everyday sizes and accurate to about 15 significant digits for very large ones.
