Optimize PDF for Print

Runs in browser PDF Optimization

Impose 2, 4, 6, 9 or 16 pages per sheet, or build a booklet you fold in the middle, on A4, Letter or the original size. Before that, a report flags non-embedded fonts, low-resolution images, mixed page sizes and print restrictions.

How does PDF compression work?

Most of a PDF's size is images and embedded fonts, not text. Optimisers combine several techniques: re-encoding images at a lower resolution or quality (JPEG for photos, lossless Flate for line art), subsetting fonts to the glyphs actually used, removing unused objects, duplicate resources and metadata, and linearising the file so a browser shows the first page before the download finishes. Not every tool uses all of them. These techniques keep the text layer, links and structure; rasterising whole pages into images, the most aggressive option, turns text into pixels and loses them.

Frequently asked questions about Optimize PDF for Print

How do I print the booklet?

Print the output double-sided with "flip on short edge", stack the sheets in order, fold in the middle and staple on the fold. The page order is arranged so the booklet reads correctly.

Can I make an Arabic booklet?

Yes — choose "Bind on the right" so the sheets are arranged for a right-to-left reading order.

What does the readiness report check?

Fonts that are not embedded (a print shop may substitute them), images whose resolution is below 150 DPI at page width, mixed page sizes, form fields and whether printing is denied by the file’s permissions.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened and processed by your browser with WebAssembly and JavaScript; nothing is sent to Mutqan Soft or anyone else. Close the tab and the file is gone. Downloading the result needs a free account — no subscription, no payment.

Can I use it on a password-protected PDF?

Yes, if you know the password: the file list asks for it once and every operation then works on the decrypted pages. The output is saved without a password unless you protect it again.

Technical notes

Pages are embedded as form XObjects and placed into a grid of cells with margins and gaps; a page’s /Rotate is honoured by rotating the placement matrix, never by re-rendering. Booklet order pads to a multiple of four with blank cells and pairs (n,1), (2,n−1)… so a duplex short-edge print folds into reading order.
