JPG to PDF

Runs in browser PDF Conversion

Drop JPEG files, arrange them, pick a page size (or fit each page to its image), margins and orientation, and download a PDF. Baseline JPEGs are embedded as they are, without re-compression; progressive JPEGs and photos with an EXIF rotation are re-encoded at high quality so they display the right way up.

When should PNG, JPEG or WebP be used?

PNG is lossless with transparency, right for screenshots, diagrams and anything with sharp edges or text; JPEG is lossy and much smaller for photographs; WebP offers both modes at roughly 25–35% smaller sizes than the older formats and is supported by every current browser. Converting a page to an image fixes its appearance but loses the text layer, so the choice depends on whether the result must stay searchable.

Frequently asked questions about JPG to PDF

Is the image quality reduced?

No. Baseline JPEG data is copied into the PDF unchanged. Only progressive JPEGs and photos stored with an EXIF rotation are re-encoded at high quality so they display correctly.

What page size should I choose?

"Fit to image" makes each page exactly the image’s size at 96 DPI — best for screenshots. A4 or Letter with a margin is better for printing scans and photos.

Can I mix JPG and PNG files?

Yes. Any image your browser can open (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, HEIC on Safari) is accepted; JPEG and PNG files keep their format (baseline JPEGs byte for byte, PNG pixels losslessly); other formats are stored as PNG, or as JPEG when "Store converted images as JPEG" is ticked and the image has no transparency.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened and processed by your browser with WebAssembly and JavaScript; nothing is sent to Mutqan Soft or anyone else. Close the tab and the file is gone. Downloading the result needs a free account — no subscription, no payment.

What are the size limits?

Up to 250 MB and 2,000 pages per operation on a desktop browser, 60 MB and 500 pages on a phone, because everything runs in your device’s memory. The tool tells you before it starts if a file is over the limit.

Technical notes

pdf-lib’s embedJpg wraps the JPEG stream as a DCTDecode image XObject without decoding it, so quality and size are exactly those of the source. Progressive JPEGs (which pdf-lib cannot read) and photos with an EXIF rotation are decoded by the browser and re-encoded at 92% quality.
