When should PNG, JPEG or WebP be used?

PNG is lossless with transparency, right for screenshots, diagrams and anything with sharp edges or text; JPEG is lossy and much smaller for photographs; WebP offers both modes at roughly 25–35% smaller sizes than the older formats and is supported by every current browser. Converting a page to an image fixes its appearance but loses the text layer, so the choice depends on whether the result must stay searchable.

Frequently asked questions about PDF to PNG

When should I pick PNG over JPG?

PNG is lossless: text, line art and screenshots stay sharp and there are no compression artefacts. JPG is smaller for photographs.

What does "transparent background" do?

The page is rendered without a white fill, so areas the PDF does not paint stay transparent — useful for logos and stamps.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes — click the pages on the thumbnail grid or type a selection such as 1-3, 7.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened and processed by your browser with WebAssembly and JavaScript; nothing is sent to Mutqan Soft or anyone else. Close the tab and the file is gone. Downloading the result needs a free account — no subscription, no payment.

Can I use it on a password-protected PDF?

Yes, if you know the password: the file list asks for it once and every operation then works on the decrypted pages. The output is saved without a password unless you protect it again.

Technical notes

With "transparent background" the canvas is not filled before rendering, so only what the PDF paints is opaque. PNG encoding is the browser’s; files are larger than JPEG but exact.
