When should PNG, JPEG or WebP be used?
PNG is lossless with transparency, right for screenshots, diagrams and anything with sharp edges or text; JPEG is lossy and much smaller for photographs; WebP offers both modes at roughly 25–35% smaller sizes than the older formats and is supported by every current browser. Converting a page to an image fixes its appearance but loses the text layer, so the choice depends on whether the result must stay searchable.

Is PNG transparency preserved?
Yes. The alpha channel is embedded as a soft mask, so transparent regions show the page background (white by default, or whatever a background tool adds later).
Why is my PDF larger than the PNG files?
The PNG pixels are stored losslessly, and the PDF re-compresses them with plain Flate, which can come out larger than the original PNG file. PNG files are never converted to JPEG here (the JPEG option only applies to other formats), so if a smaller, lossy file is acceptable, run Compress PDF afterwards with image re-compression.
What happens with very large images?
Images up to 80 megapixels are accepted; a larger one is reported and skipped so the browser does not run out of memory.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The file is opened and processed by your browser with WebAssembly and JavaScript; nothing is sent to Mutqan Soft or anyone else. Close the tab and the file is gone. Downloading the result needs a free account — no subscription, no payment.
What are the size limits?
Up to 250 MB and 2,000 pages per operation on a desktop browser, 60 MB and 500 pages on a phone, because everything runs in your device’s memory. The tool tells you before it starts if a file is over the limit.
Technical notes
PNG data is decoded to raw pixels by pdf-lib and embedded as a FlateDecode image with a separate SMask for the alpha channel. Images over 80 megapixels are refused before decoding to protect the browser’s memory.
