Markdown to PDF

Runs in browser PDF Conversion

CommonMark with GitHub-style tables, strikethrough and autolinks is rendered and typeset into a clean PDF: numbered and bulleted lists with nesting, fenced code with a shaded background, block quotes, horizontal rules, tables with repeated headers, and images embedded as data URLs. Arabic and Hindi text is shaped and set in the right direction. The first level-1 heading becomes the PDF title.

What happens when HTML, Markdown, CSV or plain text is converted to PDF?

The source is laid out onto fixed pages: text is wrapped and split at page boundaries, HTML and Markdown are rendered with the fonts available to the converter, and a CSV becomes a table that may need landscape pages or smaller type to fit its columns. The result is a real PDF with a text layer — selectable, searchable, with embedded fonts — but a static one: links survive, scripts and interactivity do not, and right-to-left text needs a converter that shapes Arabic correctly.

Frequently asked questions about Markdown to PDF

Which Markdown features are supported?

CommonMark plus tables, strikethrough and automatic links (the GitHub flavour). Raw HTML inside the Markdown is ignored for safety; footnotes, task-list checkboxes and math are printed as text.

Are images included?

Images embedded as data: URLs are placed in the PDF. Images that point to a file path or a URL are left out and counted in the notes — nothing is fetched from the network.

Can I change the look?

Paper size, orientation, base font size, margins, text direction and page numbers are options. Headings scale from the base size; code uses a smaller size on a shaded block.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened and processed by your browser with WebAssembly and JavaScript; nothing is sent to Mutqan Soft or anyone else. Close the tab and the file is gone. Downloading the result needs a free account — no subscription, no payment.

Technical notes

markdown-it (html: false, linkify: true) renders to HTML, which goes through the same sanitiser and HTML mapper as HTML to PDF, so both tools share one typesetting path.
