PDF to Word

Runs in browser PDF Conversion

Turn a PDF into a .docx you can edit in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs. The text is recovered with its weight and size, headings, bullet and numbered lists and column-aligned tables are detected, and embedded images are placed on their pages. The result is editable text with the layout approximated — not a pixel copy — and the tool says so. Scanned pages have no text; run OCR PDF first.

What is inside a DOCX or XLSX file?

A .docx, .xlsx or .pptx file is a ZIP package of XML parts defined by ECMA-376 / ISO/IEC 29500 (Office Open XML): document text and styles, worksheets and shared strings, slides and layouts, plus relationships, media and a core-properties part with author, dates and revision metadata. That is why such files can be read, previewed and converted in the browser without Office installed — and why their metadata deserves a look before they are shared.

How to use PDF to Word

  1. Drop a PDF and wait for the thumbnails.
  2. Optionally choose pages and turn heading, table or image detection off.
  3. Click "Convert to Word".
  4. Download the .docx and open it in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs.
The PDF holds only positioned text, so the tool rebuilds lines, tables, headings, lists and paragraphs from those positions and Word lays them out again with its own fonts.

Frequently asked questions about PDF to Word

Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?

No, and no browser converter can promise that. A PDF stores glyph positions, not paragraphs; this tool rebuilds paragraphs, headings, lists and tables from those positions and lets Word re-flow them with its own fonts. Reports, letters, contracts and articles convert well; magazine-style layouts, multi-column designs and forms are simplified.

What happens with a scanned PDF?

A scan has no text layer, so pages without text are inserted as pictures (or skipped, if you prefer). Run OCR PDF first to add a text layer, then convert the searchable result to get editable text.

Are tables and images kept?

Tables whose cells line up in columns are detected and written as real Word tables; images embedded in the PDF are extracted and placed at the end of their page. Vector drawings and charts drawn with lines are not carried over.

Does it handle Arabic and Hindi?

Yes. Right-to-left paragraphs are marked as such in the .docx, so Word displays and edits them correctly; Devanagari text is written as Unicode and rendered by Word’s fonts.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened and processed by your browser with WebAssembly and JavaScript; nothing is sent to Mutqan Soft or anyone else. Close the tab and the file is gone. Downloading the result needs a free account — no subscription, no payment.

What are the size limits?

Up to 250 MB and 2,000 pages per operation on a desktop browser, 60 MB and 500 pages on a phone, because everything runs in your device’s memory. The tool tells you before it starts if a file is over the limit.

Can I use it on a password-protected PDF?

Yes, if you know the password: the file list asks for it once and every operation then works on the decrypted pages. The output is saved without a password unless you protect it again.

Technical notes

pdf.js supplies each text run with its position, font size and weight. Runs are grouped into lines by baseline, lines into paragraphs by spacing and line width, headings by size ratio to the body size (≥ 1.15) or by weight, lists by marker patterns, and tables by consecutive lines whose gap-separated cells start at the same x positions. The `docx` library writes the result with numbering definitions, table grids, bidi paragraphs and ImageRun pictures.
