Word (DOCX) Viewer

Runs in browser Office Documents

A private Word viewer: drop a .docx and read it as pages, with styles, numbering, tables, images, footnotes, headers and footers rendered by your browser. Optionally show tracked changes and comments. The document properties (author, application, word count) are listed beside it. Fonts come from your device, so pagination can differ slightly from Word.

Privacy: Processed locally in your browser. Your file is not uploaded.

What is inside a DOCX or XLSX file?

A .docx, .xlsx or .pptx file is a ZIP package of XML parts defined by ECMA-376 / ISO/IEC 29500 (Office Open XML): document text and styles, worksheets and shared strings, slides and layouts, plus relationships, media and a core-properties part with author, dates and revision metadata. That is why such files can be read, previewed and converted in the browser without Office installed — and why their metadata deserves a look before they are shared.

How to use Word (DOCX) Viewer

  1. Drop a .docx file.
  2. Optionally tick tracked changes or comments.
  3. Click "Open" and read; scroll inside the viewer.
  4. Use Word to PDF if you need a PDF copy.

Frequently asked questions about Word (DOCX) Viewer

Is the document uploaded to be rendered?

No. The .docx is unpacked and drawn entirely in your browser; close the tab and it is gone.

Why does it look slightly different from Word?

Rendering uses the fonts installed on your device and the browser’s text engine, so a missing font is substituted and lines can wrap differently. Word’s own page breaks are honoured when the file was saved by Word.

Can I see tracked changes and comments?

Yes — tick the options before opening. Insertions, deletions and comment balloons are shown inline.

Does it open .doc files?

No — only .docx. Convert a .doc with Word or LibreOffice first.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened and processed by your browser with WebAssembly and JavaScript; nothing is sent to Mutqan Soft or anyone else. Close the tab and the file is gone. Downloading the result needs a free account — no subscription, no payment.

Technical notes

docx-preview parses the package (styles, numbering, theme, font table, headers/footers, notes) and renders section elements with the page size and margins from the document; embedded fonts are exposed as data-URL @font-face rules under the page CSP (font-src data:). Word’s lastRenderedPageBreak marks are honoured, so Word-saved files keep their pagination; other files render each section as one continuous page. The viewer sets a CSS zoom when the page is wider than the panel.
